Title: Snack
Author: Emme Burton

Marcus "Snack" Snackenberg is a born ladykiller.

When Minnie Cooper moves back to her dad's hometown as a child, with her two brothers and Star Wars action figures in tow, they become immediate friends.

By junior high, Minnie, although unaware, is in love with him.

Snack is completely in touch with his feelings for her.

Sometimes the villain in the story isn't a person.

Sometimes it's time.

And space.

And fear.

Fear of losing the best friend you’ve ever had.

Snack.

An overnight romance…twenty-six years in the making.

Marcus Snackenburg and Wilhemina Jane Cooper. AKA Snack and Minnie!! Eternal in every sense of the word. Best friends, a couple – twice, never able to let go of each other in 26 years. A lifetime partnership in the making….if only it worked that way….

Minnie meets Snack after her dad Gil, packs her and her brothers Clip and Sid up and moves back to Danvers Grove, his hometown, after his wife leaves them. The day they get to Danvers Grove, Minnie meets Snack, who is the son of Gils childhood friends, Colette and Robert. Right then and there Snack claims Minnie as his ‘girl’ at the very tender age of six! Over the space of 36 hours they are everything they want to be and more.

Minnie goes back to Danvers Grove with her little furball Wookie in her bag, after a phone call from her dad telling her that Snacks’ wife Megan has died. He has 2 children Aiden and Fifi, who are just adorable and hate seeing their daddy with a sad face, until Minnie shows up.

I love the best friends to lovers books. I love the flashbacks and reliving the past especially over the course of 26 years.

This book was enjoyable. It had some angst, laughter and everlasting love and emotions. I loved Minnie - Minnie Mouse, as her dad named her, she was a funny, straight talking, cursing Star Wars fan, didn’t like pink and had no bestie but her Yorkshire terrier Wookie.

Snack was just adorable, he’s sweet, doesn’t swear and in his time of grief I just wanted scoop him up and hug him and squeeze him..

His one person, his ‘girl’, his best friend…Minnie, he wasn’t going to let her go again. But do they end up together and stand the test of time after 26 years or are they destined to be apart?

This book was told in first person until the epilogue when we get a short epilogue from Snack which kind of leaves you wanting more…not a cliffhanger but more of a happy for now…which I like.

I’m looking forward to reading more from Emme Burton. An enjoyable easy read so kick back with a cup of coffee and enjoy a bit of a…Snack!
